Essential Question(s):

Explain the similarities and differences of series and sequences.

Follow these three steps to complete this "flip" lesson.
STEP 1: Preparation
Title your spiral with the heading above and copy the essential question(s).
STEP 2: Vocabulary & Examples
Copy and define the following of vocabulary. This can be any tables, properties, theorems, terms, phrases or postulates listed. Review the following examples and copy what is necessary for you. Use the guiding questions for your cornell notes.

  1. What is summation notation and it's purpose? (pg 742)
Sums of Arithmetic and Geometric Sequences
  1. What is the Sum of a Finite Arithmetic Sequence Theorem? (pg 743)
  2. How do you sum the terms of an arithmetic sequence? (Ex 1 pg 744)
  3. What is the Sum of a Finite Geometric Sequence Theorem? (pg 745)
  4. How do you sum the terms of an geometric sequence? (Ex 2 pg 745)
Infinite Series
  1. What is an infinite series? (pg 746)
  2. What are partial sums and how do they affect convergence of a series? (pg 747)
  3. How do you analyze limits of partial sums? (Ex 3 pg 747) ***Make sure to read the paragraph below EX 3.***
Convergence of Geometric Series
  1. What is the Sum of an Infinite Geometric Series Theorem? (pg 748)
  2. How do you sum the terms of an infinite geometric series? (Ex 4 pg 748)
  3. How can you convert a repeating decimal into a fraction? (Ex 5 pg 749)
