DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP INTRODUCTION

DUE FRIDAY, MAY 23, 2014

OBJECTIVE: 
To make you aware of certain digital skills that everyone should have given our technological world. These are skills that are essential for using technology and the internet safety and responsibly.

After completing this assignment, you should:
  • Have a better understanding of what digital citizenship is.
  • Have some general knowledge in each of the six areas of digital citizenship.
  • Know of resources you can utilize to help create a positive digital footprint.


KEY VOCABULARY:
  • digital media: electronic devices and media platforms such as computers, cell phones, video, the Internet, and video games that allow users to create, communicate, and interact with one another or with the device or application itself 
  • simile: a figure of speech in which a comparison is made to show a similarity between two different things. A simile resembles a metaphor, but in a simile the word like or as is used to make the comparison
  • digital citizenship: navigating the digital world, safely, responsibly and ethically
PROJECT COMPONENTS:
  • Individual assignment
  • Final product is a GLOG
            - Select "I'm a Student" and create a new account.      
            - My classroom code is: 82HE7G
            - You can use ANY GLOG template; be smart, effective, creative
            - You must email me the link to it as a backup for grading.
  • Review the six topics of Digital Citizenship and select ONE topic you want to research further or that you think is the most important.
  • Provide enough research to show your level of understanding. 
  • Make sure to cite your sources. 
  • Put your name on the GLOG somewhere so I can identify it as yours.
  • Address the following questions in your GLOG:   
            - Which Digital Citizenship topic is the most important for                            people to learn? Why?
            - What second topic would you want to learn more about? Why?
            - Select one reflection question from your handout to address.
